WHAT IS “SIN”? Our English word “sin” is a translation of the Greek word: “hamartia”, which means “missing the mark” or “off the mark” or “wander off the path of uprightness and honour”

“Sin” or “missing the mark” is not a personality trait, character trait, or identity

“Sin” can be “easily corrected in the mind” (ACIM)

Take your focus off of greed

Principle: What you focus on expands

Principle: What you resist, persists.

WHAT IS GREED/AVARICE? Definition – Greed (Webster’s) a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (such as money) than is needed

Definition – Avarice (Webster’s) excessive or insatiable desire for wealth or gain

Greed/Avarice is a manifestation of an unhealthy relationship with and understanding of DESIRE

The remedy to greed and avarice is HEALTHY DESIRE!

What is the object of your desire?

WHAT IS DESIRE? Desire is ‘the starting point of all achievement”

DESIRE IS LIKE A FIRE It’s like the wood and fire of a campfire It’s like the burners on your stove

HEALTHY DESIRE Healthy desire leads to healthy outcomes that benefit all.

*Sense consciousness is a mental state formed from believing in and acting through the senses.

*Anytime you or I turn away from our indwelling God, the Being, Spirit, we have begun the process of dying.

*When we commit the sin of lust, we well may come to a “prodigal son” experience…eating slop with the pigs in the midst of a famine. Indeed, that is a dying experience.

4 STEPS TO AVOID COMMITTING THE DEADLY SIN OF LUST

Step 1: Recognize what you are – a spiritual being – in a human costume. You are a spiritual being governed by spiritual laws.

Step 2: Develop your relationship with the best part of you – with your indwelling God, your Source. The best relationship is developed by some good communication. Communication is a two way street. Too often, we talk, talk, talk to God. But we must listen, listen, listen. Yes, it’s called meditation – do it! Without a developed relationship, trust is nearly impossible. And, that is the key for us not to avoid committing the deadly sin of lust.

Step 3: Know that sometimes as you avoid committing the sin of lust, people may think you’re crazy. Why? The facts, the circumstances, may suggest one behavior, while God is directing another. What’s your choice?

Step 4: Intentionally call on the Christ to activate your twelve powers, with a focus on faith, to truly believe that while sense consciousness sometimes seems to offer so much, it delivers so little.

Your vision comes with provision.

Divine radiant substance is your supply. Substance is the spiritual essence out of which all things are made. It is visible and comprehensible to your spiritual eye, but not to your natural eye (what you pick up using only your five senses).

Success Mindset
Take a deep breath
Put on blinders
Tune out the noise
Take your supply

Affirmation: The rich substance of the kingdom of God is pouring its plenty perpetually into my mind and affairs, and I am in all ways prospered.

The Covenant

I am ready for my Adventure in Faith.
I see the divine opportunity designed just for me and I wholeheartedly say YES GOD!
I am strong – I will withstand the temptation to dream small or stay the same.

Week 3: Adventure in Faith – Move Into Your Promised Land

Scripture

Joshua 6:8-16 When Joshua had instructed the people, the seven priests carrying seven ram’s horns advanced before the LORD, blowing their horns; and the Ark of the LORD’s covenant followed them. The vanguard marched in front of the priests who were blowing the horns, and the rear guard marched behind the Ark, with the horns sounding all the time. But Joshua’s orders to the rest of the people were, “Do not shout, do not let your voices be heard, and do not let a sound issue from your lips until the moment that I command you, “Shout!” Then you shall shout.

So he had the Ark of the LORD go around the city and complete one circuit; then they returned to camp and spent the night in camp. Joshua rose early the next day; and the priests took up the Ark of the LORD, while the seven priests bearing the seven ram’s horns marched in front of the Ark of the LORD, blowing the horns as they marched. The vanguard marched in front of them, and the rear guard marched behind the Ark of the LORD, with the horns sounding all the time. And so they marched around the city once on the second day and returned to the camp. They did this six days.

On the seventh day, they rose at daybreak and marched around the city, in the same manner, seven times; that was the only day that they marched around the city seven times. On the seventh round, as the priests blew the horns, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!”

Sermon Thesis

The walls of limitation in your life cannot stand in the presence of decisive, committed obedience to your indwelling Christ.

Attitude #1: God needs people who will follow directions.

Attitude #2: God needs someone who will act with dispatch. Seven Priests represent faith in the power of Spirit.

Attitude #3: God needs people who have a ‘no matter what’ mindset.
