Guiding Scripture: Matthew 25:14-30 (Parable of the Talents)
“For it is as if a man, going on a journey, summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them; to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. The one who had received the five talents went off at once and traded with them, and made five more talents. In the same way, the one who had the two talents made two more talents. But the one who had received the one talent went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. After a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them.
Then the one who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five more talents, saying, ‘Master, you handed over to me five talents; see, I have made five more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’ And the one with the two talents also came forward, saying, ‘Master, you handed over to me two talents; see, I have made two more talents.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have been trustworthy in a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
Then the one who had received the one talent also came forward, saying, ‘Master, I knew that you were a harsh man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed; so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here you have what is yours.’ But his master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! You knew, did you, that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I did not scatter? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to the one with the ten talents.
So take the talent from him, and give it to the one with the ten talents. For to all those who have, more will be given, and they will have an abundance; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be taken away. As for this worthless servant, throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'”
Spiritual Tool: Giving and Stewardship represented by the Screwdriver
Stewardship is the understanding that because God has total ownership of everything, you are to be careful how you handle the resources that God has entrusted into your care. You must be a good manager (steward) of the resources that God has given to you. Being a good steward of your time, talents, and treasure (money) means tithing your time, talent, and treasure.
Metaphysically Speaking
Who is the landlord? YOU, SPIRITUAL BEING. YOU! You are one with the one. You’ve been endowed with all the qualities, gifts and attributes of God.
Who is the servant? Your THOUGHTS and FEELINGS. Add to that Your WORDS, ACTIONS & REACTIONS
What are the talents? Spiritual gifts–life, love, Truth, substance, intelligence, faith, power, judgment, will, in fact, every inherent attribute of man’s being–have their roots in God.
Affirmation Father, I thank you because: Who I AM, you made me. What I have, you gave me. What I know you taught me. Where I AM you brought me. Thank you, God.
Key Point
RECOGNIZE GOD AS YOUR SOURCE. THIS THE ACT OF TITHING.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.
Sermon Points
What is Lent? We look at Lent as a spiritual fast from negativity and a spiritual feast on truth.
KEY POINT: You have a divine right to a better life
Point 1: Your Consciousness Under Construction: In order to have a changed life you have to have a changed mind.
Point 2: Your Consciousness Under Construction: Your mind is your connecting link to God
Point 3: Your Consciousness Under Construction: Prayer is the Perfect Tool to Build Your Life
Prayer is a technique for achieving unity with God and His limitless life, substance and intelligence. Prayer is not something we do to God but to ourselves. It is not will but willingness. It is not words but feeling. It is not asking but knowing. It is not flattery but a sense of oneness. It is not a position but a disposition.

Point 4: Faith is the foundation for a better life. Faith is your ability to access the invisible energy intelligence and shape it with your imagination.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its fall!”
Matthew 7:24-27

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty of insincerity (James 3:17).
Sermon Points
Listen to the writer of James – what comes from God is pure…that means its free of selfish motives; it promotes harmony (it’s peaceable); it is considerate and courteous (it’s gentle); it allows for discussion, can be modified, and is ultimately logical (open to reason); it’s compassionate (full of mercy); ultimately serves the best interest of everyone (good fruit); and is impartial, straightforward, free of doubt, and honest (without uncertainty and insincerity).
If any proposed course of action fulfills all those requirements (regardless of when or how you have conceived the course of action), you can follow it confidently, for it will be in accordance with God’s will. If any attribute is missing, the wise person postpones action until he or she has received guidance with all the attributes of wisdom from above.
Point #1: God is always speaking to you.
Point #2: You can learn to hear from God.
Points #3: Spiritual confidence comes acting on what you heard.

…“What you are doing is not good. You will surely wear yourself out, both you and these people with you. For the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone (Exodus 18:17-18)
Sermon Points
Excerpt from Handbook of Positive Prayer: “You probably noticed that the seven-step prayer pays attention to our own spiritual needs first. As we move through the first five steps, we rise in or purify our consciousness as our sense of the presence, love, and all-providing power of God becomes stronger. At the end of the fifth step, we should be ready to pray for others with firm conviction.”
