Excerpt from Handbook of Positive Prayer: “You probably noticed that the seven-step prayer pays attention to our own spiritual needs first. As we move through the first five steps, we rise in or purify our consciousness as our sense of the presence, love, and all-providing power of God becomes stronger. At the end of the fifth step, we should be ready to pray for others with firm conviction.”
You’re not even ready to support someone else until you’ve supported yourself.
Here are 5 essentials the PRECEDE praying and advocating for others.
Essential #1: Illumination – You affirm the presence of God.
Essential #2: Adoration – You offer praise and thanksgiving for God’s presence in your life.
Essential #3: Forgiveness: You accept God’s forgiveness of your errors, and you forgive others and yourself for errors.
Essential #4: Acceptance of blessings and God’s will: You acknowledge the good in your life and accept God’s will for your good.
Essential #5: Requesting guidance, aid, healing for yourself: You affirm the presence of the solution to any challenge, supply to meet any need, or the reality of a desired condition.
